Medical Advisors
The structure of the Spine Medicine Institute includes a board of medical directors and a council of medical advisors. The medical directors and medical advisors participate in case conferences, journal clubs, and seminars to integrate specialties, promote transparency and collaborate as providers.
Medical advisors are providers who have a majority of their practice related to spine care and are interested in a multidisciplinary, outcome-based, team approach. Medical advisors are expected to participate in monthly journal clubs and case conferences, and support transparency in data collection and reporting outcomes.

Timothy Floyd, MD, FACS
Dr. Floyd is co-chairman and founding member at the Spine Medicine Institute, former president of the Idaho Orthopedic Society, and chairman-elect of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. A fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), he specializes in disorders and injuries of the spine.
Dr. Floyd received his medical degree from the University of Florida and later received the North American Spine Society Award for a traveling fellowship and was able to work with leading spine surgeons in North America and Europe. He was also a Spine Surgery fellow at the Texas Back Institute and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he learned to perform complex spinal procedures. Dr. Floyd served as a major in the United States Army and was deployed in a forward surgical team during the invasion phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom. For his services, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Army Combat Medical Badge. His research interests include spine trauma, anatomy, surgery and bone metabolism.
